DOMINICAN REPUBLIC wedding photographer – Photography in THE CARIBBEAN & Europe
Hi! I’m Antonio, a destination wedding photographer based in Europe and Mexico, and the Dominican Republic is one of the most diverse and visually compelling destinations I work in.
The Dominican Republic occupies the eastern two thirds of Hispaniola, the island Columbus called the most beautiful he had ever seen, and four centuries later the claim remains difficult to dispute. The country has the highest mountain in the Caribbean, the largest lake, the oldest colonial city in the Americas, and some of the most extraordinary beaches in the world. For destination weddings it offers a range and a depth that few Caribbean islands can match: Punta Cana in the east, with its extraordinary concentration of luxury resort infrastructure and its twenty-five kilometers of white sand beach; Casa de Campo in La Romana, arguably the most exclusive resort property in the entire Caribbean, with its private marina, its Altos de Chavón artist village and its world-famous polo grounds; and the colonial city of Santo Domingo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest European settlement in the Americas, with a historic zone of extraordinary architectural richness for couples who want something with genuine cultural depth.
I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography, present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and the quality of Caribbean light in Cancún, that deep blue water against white sand, the warm golden hours, translates beautifully to analog photography.
Punta Cana is the destination I am asked about most within the Dominican Republic, and with good reason. The Bávaro beach is one of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, with shallow turquoise water and fine white sand that runs uninterrupted for kilometers. The resort infrastructure here is among the most developed in the region, with properties ranging from intimate adults-only boutique hotels to grand-scale all-inclusives capable of handling celebrations for hundreds of guests. The quality of service at the top end of the market is consistently exceptional, and the logistical ease of Punta Cana International Airport, with direct connections from virtually every major city in North America and Europe, makes it one of the most accessible luxury wedding destinations in the world.
I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography, present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and the Caribbean light of the Dominican Republic, warm, consistent and extraordinarily rich in the late afternoon, is exceptional for analog photography.
Whether you’re planning an intimate beachfront ceremony at a boutique property in Punta Cana or a grand multi-day celebration at Casa de Campo, I’d be honored to be there with you.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC on film — analog wedding photography
The Caribbean light of the Dominican Republic has a warmth and a consistency that I find exceptional for analog photography. The island sits at a latitude where the golden hour is long, generous and deeply warm, and the combination of white sand, turquoise water and tropical vegetation creates a quality of ambient light that wraps around everything in a way that digital photography flattens. On analog film, the water deepens, the whites of the sand glow, and the warmth of the late afternoon on the beach takes on a texture that feels genuinely timeless.
For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.
I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Dominican Republic wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.
Where to get married in DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
The Dominican Republic offers one of the most varied wedding venue landscapes in the Caribbean, from the grand resort infrastructure of Punta Cana and the exclusive estate character of Casa de Campo to the colonial grandeur of Santo Domingo and the extraordinary natural beauty of the Samaná Peninsula.
Eden Roc Cap Cana is the most refined address in the Punta Cana area, a boutique luxury property within the private Cap Cana marina community with a Mediterranean-inspired aesthetic, extraordinary beachfront access and a level of personalised service that the larger all-inclusive resorts cannot match. For couples who want the Punta Cana setting with a genuinely intimate and design-conscious experience, it is the natural choice.
Paradisus Palma Real and Paradisus Punta Cana are among the most complete luxury all-inclusive resort properties in the destination, with multiple ceremony and reception spaces, exceptional culinary programs and a level of production capacity that suits large international celebrations. The beachfront ceremony spaces at both properties face the extraordinary Bávaro beach directly.
Casa de Campo Resort & Villas in La Romana is in a category of its own in the Caribbean. The Altos de Chavón, a replica 16th-century Mediterranean village built above the Chavón River canyon, contains a 5,000-seat amphitheater, a church of St. Stanislaus and cobblestone streets of extraordinary visual richness. The combination of the canyon landscape, the river below, and the European village architecture creates a wedding setting that exists nowhere else in the Caribbean.
Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana is an adults-only boutique property within the Punta Cana area with a more intimate scale and a stronger design identity than its neighbors. The beachfront setting, the tropical gardens and the deliberately small capacity make it particularly suited to couples who want a luxury experience without the scale of the major resorts.
Amanera on the north coast near Río San Juan is the most extraordinary boutique property in the entire country, an Aman resort set on a headland above a private beach with views across the Atlantic and the surrounding tropical landscape. The scale is absolutely intimate, the design is exceptional, and the level of seclusion is unlike anything available in Punta Cana. For couples who want the most exclusive and private experience the Dominican Republic can offer, it is without question the right address.
Las Terrenas on the Samaná Peninsula in the northeast combines French Caribbean colonial architecture with extraordinary beaches and a relaxed, cosmopolitan atmosphere that is entirely different from either Punta Cana or Casa de Campo. For couples who want something with genuine local character and natural beauty, it is one of the most compelling alternatives in the country.
If you’re still choosing between destinations or comparing venues within Punta Cana, I’m happy to share what I know from having worked across the Dominican Republic.

Frequently asked questions
01.
How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?
My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.
02.
Do you shoot on film in the Dominican Republic?
Yes, and I love it. The Caribbean light of the Dominican Republic, warm, consistent and extraordinarily rich in the late afternoon as it falls across the Bávaro beach or the Chavón River canyon at Casa de Campo, is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.
03.
Can we meet or have a call before booking?
Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.
04.
How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book around a year in advance, especially for peak season dates. I’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind to check availability.
05.
When will we receive our photos?
You’ll receive a preview gallery within 48 hours of your wedding. The full edited collection is delivered within two months.
06.
