'wedding photographer Barcelona Gothic Quarter elopement'

Wedding Photographer in Barcelona

As your Barcelona wedding photographer, I work with destination couples from the UK, the US, and across Europe who choose Catalonia for its extraordinary light, its architecture, and its sense of history. Barcelona is one of the most architecturally rich cities in Europe, Gaudí’s unfinished cathedral rising above the rooftops, the medieval stone of the Gothic Quarter, the modernist facades of the Eixample, and a Mediterranean coastline that runs from the city itself up through the Costa Brava toward the French border. Few European cities offer this combination of urban sophistication and immediate access to genuinely spectacular countryside and coast within an hour’s drive.

The Gothic Quarter, with its narrow medieval streets and centuries-old stone, creates a backdrop that no studio could replicate. I’ve photographed elopements through the Barri Gòtic at golden hour, when the light turns the walls amber and the city empties enough to feel completely private. For couples who want something intimate, urban, and genuinely cinematic, Barcelona delivers in a way that few cities in the world can match.

Beyond the city itself, Catalonia’s wedding venue scene is extraordinary. Restored 19th-century villas along the coast, historic manor houses in the countryside north of the city, and properties on the Costa Brava that have welcomed guests for nearly a century, all of it within easy reach of Barcelona’s international airport, which has direct connections from London, New York, Boston and most major European hubs.

Whether you’re planning a full destination wedding in the city or an intimate elopement for two, Barcelona has the light and the history to make it unforgettable.

BARCELONA on film — analog wedding photography

Catalonia has a quality of light that changes completely depending on where you are. In the Gothic Quarter, the light is filtered and golden, bouncing off centuries of stone in the narrow medieval streets. On the Costa Brava, it opens up entirely, Mediterranean light over the water, sharp and clear in a way that the city never quite achieves. On analog film, both qualities translate into images of extraordinary depth: the warm stone of Barcelona’s old town, the deep blue of the Mediterranean at S’Agaró, the dappled light through the gardens at La Baronía in the hills above the city.

For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.

I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Barcelona wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.

Xalet del Nin — Vilanova i la Geltrú

Xalet del Nin is the most exclusive wedding venue in Catalonia, a restored nineteenth-century villa in Vilanova i la Geltrú, just an hour south of Barcelona, with gardens that overlook the Mediterranean and interiors that feel like they were built for exactly this.

I’ve photographed weddings here and what stays with me is the quality of the light in the late afternoon, when it comes through the garden trees and falls on the stone facade in a way that makes every photograph look like it belongs in a magazine. The exclusivity of the venue, a single wedding at a time, complete buyout, means every couple has the space entirely to themselves.

If you’re planning a luxury wedding in Catalonia, Xalet del Nin is in a category of its own.

Hostal La Gavina — S’Agaró, Costa Brava

Hostal La Gavina sits on the edge of the Costa Brava in S’Agaró, a historic property that has been welcoming guests since 1932, with Mediterranean gardens, sunlit terraces, and sea views that make every photograph feel effortless.

I photographed a wedding here and what struck me immediately was the quality of the architecture as a backdrop. The arches, the stone, the way the Mediterranean light moves through the property in the late afternoon, it’s a venue that does most of the work for you, and my job is simply to be in the right place at the right moment.

For couples looking for classic elegance on the Costa Brava, there is no better address than La Gavina.

La Baronía — Sant Feliu de Codines

La Baronía is a restored Catalan manor house in Sant Feliu de Codines, set in the hills north of Barcelona with views that stretch across the countryside to the Pyrenees on clear days.

It’s a completely different Catalonia from the coast, quieter, more rural, with a quality of stillness that the beach venues simply can’t offer. The stone walls, the ancient gardens, and the warm Catalan light in the late afternoon create conditions that I find genuinely extraordinary to photograph.

For couples who want a countryside wedding within reach of Barcelona, La Baronía offers something rare, genuine history, genuine beauty, and a setting that feels entirely removed from the city.

CLIENTS ARE SAYING

  • «We truly cannot put into words how grateful we are to Antonio for the way he captured our wedding in Sotogrande. From the very beginning, he made us feel completely at ease, and on the day itself he blended in so naturally that we barely noticed the camera — yet somehow he didn’t miss a single meaningful moment.
His style is timeless, emotional, and incredibly refined. When we received our gallery, it felt like reliving the entire day all over again — the big moments, the quiet glances, the atmosphere, the light… everything was there.
Many of our guests have told us our wedding photos look like something from a magazine, yet they still feel deeply personal and authentic to us. That balance is so rare, and Antonio achieves it effortlessly.
If you are looking for someone who will not only document your wedding, but truly understand it and tell your story with elegance and heart, we cannot recommend him enough.
Thank you for giving us memories we will cherish forever.»

  • «Choosing Antonio to photograph our wedding at El Xalet del Nin in Barcelona was one of the best decisions we made.
From our first conversation, we felt his calm presence and genuine passion for storytelling. On the wedding day, he was incredibly professional yet warm, guiding us when needed but mostly allowing everything to unfold naturally. He captured the energy of the Mediterranean, the emotion of our ceremony overlooking the sea, and all the spontaneous, beautiful moments in between.
When we received our gallery, we were completely blown away. The images feel timeless, artistic, and full of emotion. Every photo reflects not just how the day looked, but how it felt. The light, the movement, the laughter, the tears — it’s all there in such an authentic way.
Antonio has an extraordinary eye and an ability to turn real moments into works of art without ever making them feel staged. We will treasure these photographs for the rest of our lives.
If you’re planning a wedding in Spain and want something elegant, natural, and truly meaningful, Antonio is simply exceptional.»

He will go above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable. He will guide you through posing while making it look natural if you’re camera-shy. Antonio beautifully captured our day, edited, and shared our photos with us ahead of schedule. We couldn’t be happier with his work! If you are deciding on a photographer, regardless of location, Antonio is a warm and kind person to share the day with. I could not recommend anyone enough!»

Frequently asked questions

01.

How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?

My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.

02.

Do you shoot on film in Barcelona?

Yes, and I love it. The light in Catalonia, warm and filtered in the Gothic Quarter, sharp and Mediterranean on the Costa Brava, is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.

03.

Can we meet or have a call before booking?

Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.

04.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book around a year in advance, especially for peak season dates. I’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind to check availability.

05.

When will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive a preview gallery within 48 hours of your wedding. The full edited collection is delivered within two months.

06.

Do you travel for weddings outside Barcelona?

Yes, I photograph weddings across Spain, including Seville, Marbella, and Mallorca, as well as Italy, Portugal, Mexico and beyond. I’m always open to new destinations.
