COLOMBIA wedding photographer – Photography in COLOMBIA & Europe
Hi! I’m Antonio, a destination wedding photographer based in Europe and Mexico, and Colombia is one of the most visually extraordinary destinations I work in.
Colombia is a country that surprises every couple who chooses it for a destination wedding. The diversity of its landscapes is staggering: the walled colonial city of Cartagena on the Caribbean coast, arguably the most beautiful historic city in all of Latin America; the Coffee Region in the Eje Cafetero, with its verdant mountain slopes, hacienda farms and extraordinary light; the colonial streets of Villa de Leyva and Barichara, small towns of a preserved beauty that feels entirely apart from the modern world; and Medellín, a city that has reinvented itself into one of the most vibrant and culturally sophisticated in South America. Each of these destinations offers a completely different visual and emotional experience, and all of them share a quality that is difficult to find elsewhere: a warmth and a generosity of spirit in the people and the places that makes every celebration feel genuinely alive.
Cartagena is the heart of the Colombia destination wedding scene and the destination I am asked about most. The old walled city, the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas above the bay, the pastel-colored streets of Getsemaní, the rooftop terraces overlooking the Caribbean, and the private walled mansions of the historic center that can be rented for exclusive use, all of it creates a visual richness that no resort destination can manufacture. And beyond the old city, the private islands of the Rosario Archipelago and the beaches of the Barú Peninsula offer settings of extraordinary natural beauty within easy reach of the historic center.
I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography, present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and the Caribbean light of Cartagena, warm, golden and consistent in a way that few destinations in Latin America can match, is exceptional for analog photography.
A significant number of the couples I work with in Colombia fly in from the United States, Canada and Europe. Cartagena Rafael Núñez International Airport has direct connections from Miami, New York, Fort Lauderdale, Bogotá and several other major cities. I’m experienced in working with international couples and making the planning process as smooth as possible regardless of where you’re based.
Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony in a walled colonial courtyard or a grand celebration on a private island in the Rosario Archipelago, I’d be honored to be there with you.
COLOMBIA on film — analog wedding photography
The light in Cartagena has a quality I find endlessly compelling. The Caribbean coast of Colombia sits close enough to the equator that the sun is high and direct for most of the day, but at golden hour, as it drops toward the Caribbean and the old city walls turn from pale stone to deep amber, the quality of light that falls across the historic center is simply extraordinary. On analog film, that translates into images of exceptional warmth and depth. The warm tones of the colonial architecture, the deep shadows of the arcaded streets, the turquoise of the Caribbean visible between the rooftops, all of it rendered on film with a richness that feels genuinely painterly.
For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.
I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Colombia wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.
Where to get married in COLOMBIA
Colombia’s wedding venue scene is dominated by Cartagena, but the country offers extraordinary settings across several distinct destinations, each with its own visual character and atmosphere.
Casa San Agustín in the historic center of Cartagena is one of the most beautiful boutique hotel properties in Latin America, a collection of three colonial mansions dating from the 17th century, with stone courtyards, fountains, a rooftop pool and interiors of extraordinary refinement. The scale is deliberately intimate and the setting produces images of genuine historical depth. It is the natural choice for couples who want the definitive Cartagena experience in a property of exceptional character.
Hotel Casa la Fe is a smaller and even more intimate colonial property in the old city, with a private courtyard, a rooftop terrace with views across the historic center and the Caribbean, and an aesthetic that feels entirely personal and unhurried. It suits elopements and very small celebrations where atmosphere matters more than capacity.
Sofitel Legend Santa Clara occupies a former 17th-century convent in the heart of the walled city, one of the most extraordinary buildings in Cartagena. The stone cloisters, the chapel, the gardens and the pool produce images of a scale and a historical depth that no purpose-built venue can replicate. For couples planning larger celebrations with an international guest list, it offers the production infrastructure of a major hotel within a setting of genuine colonial grandeur.
Casa Quiros and other private colonial mansions in the walled city available for exclusive buyout offer a level of personalisation and privacy that no hotel can match. The ability to take over an entire historic property, its courtyards, its terraces, its rooms and its rooftops, for the exclusive use of a couple and their guests, is one of the defining advantages of Cartagena as a wedding destination.
Islas del Rosario in the Rosario Archipelago, thirty minutes by boat from Cartagena, offer private island settings of extraordinary Caribbean beauty for couples who want to combine the colonial character of the city with the natural beauty of the Colombian coast. The turquoise water, the coral reef and the white sand of the archipelago produce images unlike anything possible in the historic center itself.
Hacienda El Paraíso and other hacienda properties in the Eje Cafetero, the Coffee Region around Manizales, Pereira and Armenia, offer a completely different experience: lush mountain landscapes, working coffee farms, colonial hacienda architecture and a quality of light in the afternoon mist of the Andes that is unlike anything on the coast. For couples who want Colombia’s cultural depth with a mountain rather than a Caribbean setting, the Coffee Region is one of the most extraordinary destinations in the country.
If you’re still choosing between Cartagena and other Colombian destinations, or deciding which venue best suits your celebration, I’m happy to share what I know from having worked across the country.

Frequently asked questions
01.
How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?
My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.
02.
Do you shoot on film in Colombia?
Yes, and I love it. The Caribbean light of Cartagena, warm and golden at the end of the afternoon as it catches the stone of the old city walls and the turquoise of the bay, is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.
03.
Can we meet or have a call before booking?
Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.

How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book around a year in advance, especially for peak season dates. I’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind to check availability.
