Wedding at Hostal La Gavina, S’Agaró · Sofía & Mickael

Wedding at Hostal La Gavina one of the most extraordinary venues on the Costa Brava and one of my favourites to photograph. The property sits on the edge of S’Agaró, looking out over the Mediterranean, with gardens that catch the afternoon light in a way that makes every photograph look effortless. The architecture, the arches, the interiors, everything here has a quality that comes from decades of being exactly what it is.

Sofía and Mickael chose La Gavina because they wanted something intimate and genuinely elegant, not a resort, not a hotel ballroom, but a place with real character and real history. They were right.

The day began with preparations in the suites, where the light coming through the arched windows was soft and directional, ideal for the quiet moments before everything starts. The groom shared a moment with his mother while adjusting his boutonniere. The bride talked with hers against the Mediterranean light. Those are the photographs that last.

A Wedding at Hostal La Gavina

The ceremony and portraits in the gardens gave the afternoon its rhythm, with the sea always present in the background and the light changing by the hour. La Gavina’s terraces overlooking the Mediterranean are some of the most beautiful portrait spaces I’ve worked in Spain.

La Gavina has that rare quality of venues that have been doing this for a long time. The staff, the light, the rhythm of the day, everything works together without effort. It is one of the few places in Spain where I arrive and know immediately that the photographs are going to be good.

If you’re planning a wedding at Hostal La Gavina or anywhere on the Costa Brava, I’d love to hear about it.
