ITALY wedding photographer – Photography in ITALY & Europe
Hi! I’m Antonio, a destination wedding photographer based in Spain, and Italy is one of the destinations I feel most naturally at home in.
Italy has a quality that no other European wedding destination can fully replicate. The light in Tuscany in the late afternoon, falling across the cypress trees and the rolling hills toward the horizon, is unlike anything I photograph anywhere else in Europe. The Amalfi Coast is dramatic in a way that stops you mid-sentence. The baroque palaces of Sicily carry centuries of history in every stone. Rome, Florence, Venice, Lake Como, each one a world unto itself, each one shaped by a quality of architecture and landscape that has been drawing artists and lovers here for five hundred years. And the food, the wine, the warmth of Italian hospitality, all of it finds its way into every wedding I photograph here.
I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography, present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and the quality of light in Italy, warm, directional and rich in a way that the Mediterranean afternoon amplifies at golden hour, is among the most beautiful I photograph anywhere in Europe for analog photography.
For UK couples, Italy is two to three hours from London depending on the region. For US couples, it is one of the most connected European destinations, with direct flights from New York, Boston, Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles to Rome, Milan and Venice. Whether you’re flying in from London, Edinburgh, New York or Toronto, I’m experienced in working with international couples and making the planning process as smooth as possible regardless of where you’re based.
Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony in a Tuscan villa, a grand celebration on the Amalfi Coast, or an elopement in the streets of Rome at golden hour, I’d be honored to be there with you.
ITALY on film — analog wedding photography
Italy has a quality of light that photographers talk about in hushed tones. The way the Tuscan afternoon sun falls across the cypress trees and the rolling hills, the way the ochre facades of Florence reflect gold at dusk, the way the sea cliffs of the Amalfi Coast catch the last light of the day. On analog film, that translates into images of extraordinary atmosphere and depth. The warm tones of the terracotta rooftops, the deep greens of the Umbrian landscape, the golden hour over the vineyards of Chianti, all of it rendered on film with a quality that feels genuinely painterly.
For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.
I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Italy wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.
Where to get married in ITALY
Italy’s wedding venue scene is one of the most varied and characterful in Europe, ranging from Renaissance villas in Tuscany to ancient masserie in Puglia, baroque palaces in Sicily and dramatic lakeside estates on Como and Maggiore.
Villa Cetinale near Siena is one of the most extraordinary private estate properties in Tuscany, a 17th-century baroque villa with formal gardens, a private chapel and an avenue of cypress trees that produces some of the most iconic wedding photographs in all of Italy. For couples who want something with genuine historical character and complete privacy, it is without question one of the most remarkable settings in the country.
Belmond Villa San Michele in Fiesole above Florence occupies a former 15th-century monastery with a facade attributed to Michelangelo, terraced gardens and views across the Arno valley toward the Florence skyline. The combination of Renaissance architecture, Tuscan landscape and that particular quality of late afternoon light over the valley produces images of exceptional depth and atmosphere.
Villa d’Este on Lake Como is one of the most celebrated hotel properties in Europe, a 16th-century cardinal’s villa on the western shore of the lake with formal gardens, a floating pool and interiors of extraordinary grandeur. For couples who want the definitive Lake Como wedding experience with full luxury hotel infrastructure, it is the natural choice.
Borgo Egnazia in the Valle d’Itria in Puglia is an entirely different proposition: a vast estate built in the style of a traditional masseria and village, with trulli, dry stone walls, olive groves and a quality of warm southern light that is unlike anything in northern Italy. It suits couples who want something with a strong sense of place and a more relaxed, Mediterranean character.
Il San Pietro di Positano on the Amalfi Coast occupies a dramatic clifftop position above the sea, with terraced gardens cut into the rock, a private beach accessible by elevator and views across the Tyrrhenian toward the horizon. The combination of cliff architecture, Mediterranean light and that extraordinary blue of the sea at golden hour produces images that feel genuinely cinematic.
Palazzo Parisio in Malta, within easy reach of Sicily, is a baroque palace of exceptional grandeur set within formal gardens, with interiors of extraordinary richness and a quality of Mediterranean light that rewards analog photography exceptionally well.
If you’re still choosing between Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, Lake Como, Puglia or Sicily, or deciding which venue best suits your celebration, I’m happy to share what I know from having worked across the country.

Frequently asked questions
01.
How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?
My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.
02.
Do you shoot on film in Italy?
Yes, and I love it. The Italian light, warm, directional and extraordinarily rich in the late afternoon as it falls across the Tuscan hills, the Amalfi cliffs or the ochre facades of the historic cities, is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.
03.
Can we meet or have a call before booking?
Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.
