Wedding at Jardines de Alfabia · Gabrielle & Ross

A wedding at Jardines de Alfabia is never just a wedding. It is a decision to get married inside eight centuries of history, in a place where the Serra de Tramuntana meets the Mediterranean light and the sound of water is constant from the moment you arrive. Gabrielle and Ross made that decision from Louisiana, and they made it well.

They chose Mallorca for the kind of reasons that make sense when you see the island in spring: the air is warm without being heavy, the light is generous all day, and everything is in bloom. Alfabia in that season is something else entirely. The palmeral, the baroque clastra with its central fountain, the pergola, the lake, the private train stop that belongs to the estate and to nowhere else. It is a venue that does not need decoration because the place itself is the decoration.

Before the wedding, we spent a morning on a catamaran in Palma. That is the best way to start a story like this one: the two of them, the bay, the cathedral in the distance, the light on the water. By the time we arrived at Alfabia for the wedding day, we already knew each other well enough for the photographs to feel like the day itself rather than a separate project running alongside it.

Wedding at Jardines de Alfabia · The Day

The ceremony and reception moved through the different spaces of the estate the way a good wedding should: unhurried, with room to breathe between each part of the day. The clastra for the ceremony, the gardens for the cocktail hour with the spring light filtering through the palms, the palmeral for dinner under the open sky.

Gabrielle and Ross brought the particular warmth of the American South with them. Their guests had crossed the Atlantic for this, and you could feel it in the way the day moved, generously, with no one watching the clock, with the kind of ease that comes from people who are genuinely glad to be somewhere together.

If you are planning a destination wedding in Mallorca, Jardines de Alfabia is one of the venues I would put at the top of any list. For more on how I work across Spain and the islands, take a look at my work as a destination wedding photographer in Spain.

Congratulations, Gabrielle & Ross.
