Barcelona Elopement at La Baronía

Shanii and Christian’s Barcelona elopement at La Baronía began with one idea in mind, just the two of them, a city they had never been to, and a day that belonged entirely to them.

We started in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, where the narrow cobblestone streets and medieval architecture create a backdrop that no studio could replicate. In the morning, before the city fills up, the Barri Gòtic has a quality of stillness and light that makes every photograph feel like it was taken somewhere outside of time. Shanii and Christian walked through it as if they owned it, which for that morning, they did.

After the city we drove to La Baronía, a restored Catalan manor house in the hills north of Barcelona with views that stretch across the countryside toward the Pyrenees on clear days. It’s a completely different Catalonia from the coast, quieter, more rural, with a warmth in the stone walls and the ancient gardens that the beach venues simply can’t offer.

An Intimate Barcelona Elopement Photographer in Catalonia

The ceremony took place in the gardens under the golden afternoon sun. Just the two of them, their vows, and the hills of Catalonia all around. That’s what an elopement is supposed to feel like.

The portraits afterwards, with the light falling on the facade of the manor and the countryside in the background, were some of my favourites from that season in Barcelona.

If you’re planning an elopement in Barcelona or anywhere in Catalonia, I’d love to hear about it.

La Baronía is one of Catalonia’s most sought-after venues for international couples who want to elope in Spain. The restored 18th-century manor sits in the hills above the coast, surrounded by olive groves and century-old gardens, with unobstructed views toward the mountains. Unlike Barcelona’s city venues, it offers complete privacy — no other events running alongside yours, no strangers in the background.

As a Barcelona elopement photographer working with couples from the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia, I specialise in intimate ceremonies that feel like yours — not like everyone else’s. The combination of the Gothic Quarter in the morning and La Baronía in the afternoon gives you two completely different worlds in one day.

Outdoor elopement ceremony in the gardens of La Baronía, Barcelona – photographed by Antonio Ojeda

– SHANII & CHRISTIAN –

Antonio was the best photographer for our wedding day. From booking to the end of the wedding day, he makes the entire process seamless. He has great communication from start to finish. He will go above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable. He will guide you through posing while making it look natural if you’re camera-shy. Antonio beautifully captured our day, edited, and shared our photos with us ahead of schedule. We couldn’t be happier with his work! If you are deciding on a photographer, regardless of location, Antonio is a warm and kind person to share the day with. I could not recommend anyone enough!
