Hotel Alfonso XIII Seville Wedding Photographer · Laila & Adam

When couples based in London start looking for a Seville wedding photographer, they are usually looking for something specific: a venue with genuine architectural weight, a city that rewards the decision to leave home for your wedding day, and photography that documents it all without getting in the way. Laila and Adam found all three.

They came from London with a clear idea of what they wanted and the confidence to trust the day to unfold. The Alfonso XIII is the kind of venue that rewards that confidence. The grand salón with its gilded coffered ceilings and crystal chandeliers, the Moorish-tiled corridors, the interior courtyard with its iron and glass, the ornate fireplaces flanked by Talavera tiles. It is a building that has hosted royalty and dignitaries, and it carries that history without making you feel like a guest in a museum.

Laila got ready inside the hotel, where the morning light through the tall curtained windows is warm and directional. The off-shoulder dress, the long veil, the bouquet in orange, pink and dusty blue. The kind of colour that makes sense in Seville in spring. There is a particular kind of calm that happens when a bride is ready and knows it. That is what these portraits have.
The civil ceremony took place inside the hotel, and the portraits moved through its best spaces: the entrance with the black iron and glass, the salón with the carved wooden fireplace, the tiled corridors. Laila and Adam are a couple who laugh easily and genuinely, which makes documentary work straightforward. You do not need to direct people who are already enjoying themselves.

Hotel Alfonso XIII Seville Wedding Photographer · Film and Digital

I photographed this wedding on both digital and film. Film handles the warm interior light of the Alfonso XIII in a way that is difficult to replicate in post-processing, and for a building with this kind of architectural density it is always the right decision. The grand salón for the banquet, with a single long table, colourful florals and the chandeliers doing what they have always done, is one of the most photographically generous rooms in Seville.
